Naturally any bank or lending institution should find the move into insurances quite easy and most definitely enticing due to the already existing customer base. Alas, although offering to insure your home, cars, travels and pets this particular bank seems to be more of a broker. LloydsTSB home insurance for example involves the searching of a panel of insurers to get you the best price. Of course, having a large institution like Lloyds TSB haggling home insurance quotes for you will obviously have its benefits when it comes to prices. This is probably the area which got LloydsTSBInsurance voted Britain's most popular home insurance provider (based on 9,000 people surveyed). Like many of the larger insurers, Lloyds is proffering a no claims discount on their house cover and you can get up to a 30% no claims bonus of your premium. To get you onboard they are offering extra discounts off your first year's premium if you buy online. Cover is of course comprehensive with new for old on your home contents as well as 24 hour helplines, optional accidental damage cover and home emergency cover for those plumbing and electrical problems. They are also offering an extra ?25 towards any switching fees you might incur say, if your currently covered by your mortgage provider.
Curiously Lloyds TSB's car insurance is provided by Churchill who, as we discussed earlier, is now owned by the Royal Bank of Scotland. Whether this is just temporary whilst Lloyd's get their feet wet in this arena remains to be seen. Right now with LloydsTSB motor insurance they've tried to make the offers interesting rather than continually slap on percentage discounts e.g. you can get two months free if you buy online with one month free every year after that. Put into perspective for those of you who prefer percentages, that's a 16% saving in the first year which on it's own is a higher discount than most are offering, throw in the extra 8% each year after than and you've got a decent saving over time. Again, there are no shortfalls in cover either with items like courtesy cars and new for old replacement on young cars coming as standard. As usual, there is the accompanying breakdown recovery addition backed up by Green Flag with each Lloyds TSB motor insurance policy and they promise that you will be paying less than if you went direct. No claims discounts are standard with up to 65% no claims bonus achievable with that rising to 70% for over 50s. No claims protection is available but as LloydsTSB use a panel of insurers for their car insurance products the criteria, and therefore price, probably differs from one policy to another.
With the huge amount of phishing out there we thought it prudent to make a special note considering this brand name. It is advisable to bookmark the official www.lloydstsb.com website (their www.insurance.co.uk specialist site seems to change an awful lot) if you intend to come back to it as inevitably there are a huge range of variations and although some of the more common ones such as www.lloydstsbinsurance.co.uk, www.lloydstsbinsurance.com and www.lloydstsb.co.uk all work fine, others like www.lloydsinsurance.co.uk, www.lloydsinsurance.com, www.loydstsb.com and www.loydstsb.co.uk (that double "l" gets a lot of people confused!) all go elsewhere. Last thing you want is to accidentally pass personal information to the wrong company. †

21/10/2009 LloydsTsb insurance, is not LLoyds bank- they are mearly 'sales people'; I had the (inclusive) phone insurance with them, actualy the truly Awful LifeStyleGroup (phones4u offshot) Appaling service, months to fix, and then TWICE tried to fob me off with 'reconditioned' second hand handset, when the policy clearly states NEW. -footnote, the insurance is not "free" as there is a £35 excess for starters, plus £8 postage to send it recorded. Lloyds were not in the least interested about the turly applaing service that a company 'borrowing' their name was doing with its customers.
