SimpleTravelInsurance.co.uk is the website of Simple Travel Insurance and WeddingPlanInsurance.co.uk is the website of Wedding Plan Insurance and they are both run by TPS the insurance admin services who have been part of the UKU Group, a virtual insurer, since 1990. In 2002 the Primary Group acquired UKU from Direct Line to form a consultant-underwriting agency, then in 2004 they developed partnerships with Norwich Union as well as various Lloyds syndicates. The following year they diversified into claims and in 2006 moved into distribution and fulfilment, by 2007 they had evolved into the UKU Group. (Got that? Don't worry, took us some time to work it out too!)
As well as TPS, the UKU Group of companies include UK Underwriting, Nexus Claims Ltd and Primary Assist and each is a specialist business unit effective in a wide range of insurance sectors including underwriting, business development, claims handling, fulfilment and distribution. TPS and all the businesses in this group is run by staff chosen for their expertise within their individual sector and they provide a range administration services to support websites such as those of Simple Travel Insurance and Wedding Plan Insurance. These services include medical screening, call centre admin and claims handling.
The website at SimpleTravelInsurance.co.uk offers home, landlord, car, wedding and travel insurance and the policies are underwritten by AXA Insurance UK plc. Simple Travel aim to be consistently competitive by continuously comparing their policies and prices against their rivals and say they offer great value and service. Simple Travel cover single trips or annual multi-trips and offer extensive protection for backpackers and students, as well as offering various options so that you can tailor the policy to your requirements. Extras include cover for winter sports, legal expenses, golf, luggage, and removal of excess and maximum trip upgrades.
As Simple Travel are part of a large group of insurance companies they say they are able to offer an expert service via telephone to support the traveller with 24-hour medical emergency assistance, medical treatment, cancellation and repatriation expenses in any part of the world. Simple Travel partnerships allow the traveller to arrange car hire, foreign currency, airport parking and even a hotel through the website.
The website at WeddingPlanInsurance.co.uk offers instant online wedding insurance for weddings and receptions both in the UK and abroad with four levels of cover; silver, gold, platinum and diamond. Cover levels vary depending on the package but all include cancellation of wedding and failure of suppliers, plus cover for legal expenses or personal accident. Diamond WeddingPlan wedding insurance covers all eventualities such as transport, gifts, and failure of suppliers, flowers, the cake, illness, dressmakers, and much more. You can also choose optional extras such as ceremonial swords and marquee cover. Weddingplan insurance also provide honeymoon cover but we were unable to activate the link on the website (never a good sign when we're reviewing), however there is a phone number provided just above this.
The website can get very confusing, passing you back and forth between various web addresses. Special note should be made that this company does own www.primarytravelinsurance.co.uk but seems to have nothing to do with the company Primary Travel Insurance. The website also has a number of case studies which indicate the scope of the policies and there is a comparison page that makes it easy to gauge the benefits of each type of policy, higher levels of cover are possible and you can also download a policy document to read all the terms and conditions before committing. †

18/04/2010 Don't use TPS - they are trying to wriggle out of the volcanic cloud by claiming it is a government regulation. What do I have travel insurance for? They have failed me badly and I will never, never use them again
