Norwich Union Car Insurance Tips on Handling a Car Crash: An information release by Norwich Union this week reads almost like the compensation information leaflets handed out by injury claim farmers. The only difference seems to be the intent behind the information being published.
According to their surveys, almost one third of drivers had no idea what they should do if they are involved in an accident. These days with no claim bonuses being the divide between affordable insurance and unaffordable insurance for some, many accident victims will try and push the other driver to admit fault within seconds of getting out of their car. Therein lies the most valid point put across by Norwich Union's study - don't admit to anything and try to remain calm even if the other driver demands that you take the blame.
Accidents are traumatic, mostly because driving is an everyday occurrence for many people so having the daily commute associated with the drama of a crash can linger for some time. Out of the 1500 drivers NU surveyed 40% had continuing stress issues including recurring memories and distress when thinking about the incident. Their hope, therefore, is that by feeling prepared for a crash the stress levels experienced from the shock of it could be lessened.
