Merry Christmas UK - Sorry about all the bad news this year: We can't say that this year at NCD News has been enjoyable. Reporting in the financial sector will always lean toward bad news, but we had hoped to provide you with a larger percentage of helpful tips and advice rather than the masses of company obituaries and bland PR nonsense the surviving insurers were spilling out to try and smooth over their failings.
Hopefully next year the UK will be moving upward as politicians learn that the taxpayers money is not a personal piggy bank and insurers learn that customers are not afraid of pursuing them in court for refusing legitimate claims.
Thank you to all journalists out there taking the time to investigate and be interested in uncovering important issues such as prisoner compensation bleeding our system of justice, insurers not living up to their promises such as no claims discount claims, the PPI fiasco, the poor state of health care in the UK, the government wasting money on ridiculous schemes, law firms taking advantage of both the compensation system and their clients - plus the nightmare that is Facebook. You are an inspiration to smaller news desks such as ours.
Hopefully, people will get tired of reading what Britney Spears did last night or the latest Demi Moore twitterings, and news which actually informs and improves life in the UK will become more popular ... we can hope, right?
