19/03/2010 My wife is insured with Admiral and was hit whilst parked. Third Party accepted responsibility and gave details of their Direct Line policy. We reported the incident to Admiral, they arranged everything from the body shop that would repair the vehicle to delivery and later collection of the hire vehicle. Exemplary service! Then we received the renewal notice - Premium increased by almost 100% on last year! We queried this and were told that despite having protected NCD, Admiral re-rate risks when insured's have been involved in a claim of any sort. So, despite there being no financial consequence to the insurer, no blame on my wife who's car was legally parked, they beliee it fair to impose an increase of this kind. Outrageous behaviour.
06/03/2010 There is a definite built in scam on the Admiral and Elephant website to force you to phone in.Every time you get to one click away from purchase on line the system says cannot recoognise reg no or someother item.. hen when you call its works for the reg no problem...it will be a sales related up sell policy.Even worse in a call after not being able to buy on line the call centre told me could only get via internet if used there comparison site at higher prices. So it throws out all the other comparison sites
04/02/2010 Not professional when it comes to Claims handling. Either too lazy or even worse, wilfully incompetent.
23/10/2009 If you a third party which is involved in a non fault accident with a policyholder of Admiral, do not accept their invite to repair your car. They will repair it and then write to you and hold you responsible. Absolutely unprofessional and misleading.

13/07/2009 Admiral threatened court action over a admin fee which they eventually admitted wasn't even due. Took two months to sort out and get an apology. Watch out for their multicar policy where one driver will lose their no claims, or their no claims accelerator which isn't accepted by all insurers.

08/10/2008 Having a bloke with a parrot on his shoulder in the middle of the web page didn't exactly fill me with confidence (pirates?), but apart from that this website was okay to use. There is a clear link to a button for a car insurance quote. This was the second site I've used that asked for my mother's maiden name - I think that's excessive, just to get a quote. The form is a bit slow and also asks what the best quote you've had before is - don't know if that makes any difference to the quote they give you. But in the end their quote was one of the cheapest I'd had.
13/08/2008 What is the point in having an online quote facility and recommending Admiral.com on all their TV adverts if you can't actually buy the insurance online? Me and my friend got quotes as was recommended by her Dad on price, but all three of us had to phone up to buy at the end of the quote process (which could recognise one of my car's reg numbers but not the other!) ... then when I phoned up they couldn't quote me based on reg number because "we don't do that anymore" ... eh, I just did it online? Get your act together!
30/07/2008 I know people say 'shop around' for insurance but I've always believed most insurers are in cahoots and prices are pretty equal all round. After seeing my Admiral quote be £400+ cheaper than my Direct Line renewal - I'm a shop around believer!
08/06/2008 Admiral were pretty good for insuring mine and my partner's car simply because they do a discount for multiple insurances. Site was quite slow though, I think because it searches other sites rather than offering their own insurance. Asked some questions which seemed a bit pointless which was a bit of a pain and also slowed down the quote. Key facts and policy button were a bit hidden at the bottom of the page, but at least you could get to it from every page of the quote. Wouldn't let me buy directly off the site for some reason, I had to ring and freephone numbers ain't free from mobile phones!
01/06/2008 I felt this was a confusing site not helped by an over busy home page. Although they are a specialist car insurance company I found it hard to find cover for things like motorbikes, commercial vans and so on. The quote form seeks far too much information. I tested out the application for car insurance and it asks for things like when my house insurance is due as a compulsory field. It also wants other information (such as mother's maiden name) that I am never happy at providing except to validate my identity - and certainly not when just looking for an indicative quote.
19/05/2008 Another really poor site for me. Poor graphics and a cut and paste job. The quote link for a single car simply doesn't work. I tried to get a contents insurance quote and after answering numerous questions (more than once for some of them), it then informed me that as a renter, I couldn't insure with them. Hmm.
