Bennetts Insurance [Full Article] Bennetts.co.uk is the website of Bennets insurance who have been providing general insurance since 1930 and at the beginning of the 1970's, due to changes in the market and consumer demand, they began to specialise in motorcycle insurance. In 1999, again because of demand, this company made their free phone available at weekends and in 2000 were first to launch an online quote and buy service which led to the website winning website of th ... |
11/05/2010 hi i had the same problem had my bike for six years direct debt evey month cancelled the insurance had to pay 116 pounds makes my blood boil .hope someone from one of the bike papers read this .
13/04/2010 I insured with Bennetts in December. I changed bikes in March and expected cover to be transferred. The new bike was the same value, smaller engine & my personal details were the same. They said they could not insure the new bike & referred me to one of their partner companies. Their quotation was unacceptable. I had no choice but to cancel & re-insure with an alternative providor. However, I tried a comparison website, using exactly the same details. Guess who provided the most competitive quotation, Bennetts. I then received a demand for £67.66 cancellation fee & charges. This was followed by another threatening letter less than 7 days later. I feel ripped off and abused by this company.
23/11/2009 It's actually amazing to see how many negative reviews there are on line, I wish I had seen this first....
23/11/2009 My son sold his bike and then sent his insurance certificate back. He then got a bill for £124.49 as you apparently sign up for a year's insurance whether you want it or not. Thier custonmer service is appalling and you get regular threatening letters from their debt collection department.
02/11/2009 Worst. Insurer. Ever. My policy is due this month, so I did the usual trawl of price comparison websites. Cheapest I found (not Bennets) was for £300. Bennets came in on the same comparison at £450. Today I got Bennets "renewal" letter to continue my policy with them for £898! Not only is that double what they offered me as a new customer, it's actually £100 more than i paid them last year. Same bike. Same rider. Another years' no claims (now 3 total), yet still higher.
01/10/2009 I believed I was insured by HSBC. Then wanted to cancel because I sold my car. Rang HSBC (my paper work had HSBC logos) and found I had to send my details to this companies address under the heading of HSBC. Got a bit curious and looked up the address on google. Unit 25..Orton...Southgate..ect..)Found it to be Bennetts!?! Hope they don't keep up their tradition of hefty cancelation charges!
18/08/2009 Insurance companies & Bennetts are no exeption will take payment from the debit card numbers logged with them, that is to say if an insurance is taken out & payed for by debit card you are then insured for the year, even if you do not want to be insured by that company for the next year. Unless this new policy is stopped by mail they will automatically deducted from the old debit card leaving you with a bill that you did not want.Telephone call are no assurance either. Generally the option to cancell, not the option to renew comes by post, if this in not responded to the charge will incurr, the next thing you know it appears as a debit on the bank statement. I now have to look at all unsolcited mail & check [junk mail & all]
26/01/2009 whatever you do make sure your never going to cancel your policy with bennetts they will charge you a lot more than the original cost of your insurance. I was made redundant and sold my bike wrote explaining the situation and was promptly charged 63.36 rip off fee sorry cancellation. I was told even if I have sold the bike I would have continue the policy or be charged I did't think it was legal to insure a vehicle you no longer own and is being insured by the new owner.
20/10/2008 Bennetts say they specialise in motorbike and scooter insurance but there was a whole bunch of other things on there so not sure what "specialise" means. Their quotation form was straightforward but their address checker didn't work properly - it insisted that I hadn't entered a house number when I had. I had to use a different web browser to get it to work in the end. I also had trouble selecting my bike model - the drop down boxes don't work properly. The quote they gave me was competitive and I could have reduced it by adding a voluntary excess, but I was fed up by the time I got to that point - their website needs attention.
